The finalists are: <a href=\"http:\/\/longplay.fi\"><strong>Long Play<\/strong><\/a>, a platform for long-form feature journalism, <a href=\"http:\/\/sanom.at\"><strong>Nearhood<\/strong><\/a>, a hyper local information service, <a href=\"http:\/\/infogr.am\"><strong>Infogram<\/strong><\/a>, an innovative data visualization tool, <strong>PalloPostia<\/strong>, a news service for children and <strong>On Display<\/strong>, an application for displaying a weekly art dosage.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Finalists will receive 10 000 euros of seed funding with which they develop their project further for the next 6 months. They will also receive entrepreneurship training organized with Aalto University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startupsauna.com\">Start Up Sauna<\/a> program. The finalists will also visit Silicon Valley. The winner or winners of the Uutisraivaaja contest will chosen from the five finalists, and the winner or winners will be announced at Slush start up conference in Helsinki in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach of the finalists broaden the field of journalism and distribution of information by introducing new viewpoints, target groups and topics. It is a very interesting and heterogenic selection\u201d, says <strong>Pekka Ala-Pietil\u00e4<\/strong>, chairman of the Uutisraivaaja jury.<\/p>\n<p>The contest drew 105 applications from Finland and abroad.<br \/>\n\u201cThere were both newcomers and experienced entrepreneurs in the applicants. Many had prepared their project for a long time for the Uutisraivaaja contest\u201d, <strong>Tanja Aitamurto<\/strong>, Chairman of the Review Board and Coordinator Uutisraivaaja Innovation Challenge says.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.longplay.fi\/\">Long Play<\/a><\/strong>: A new kind of digital publisher of long-term investigative journalism and feature writing.
