The application period for the fifth round of the Uutisraivaaja contest started on Friday October 5th. Uutisraivaaja is a media innovation challenge organized by the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation.

The contest seeks ideas for developing media, journalism and the distribution of information at large. The best project will be given an award, in maximum 250,000 euros.

You can participate by filling in an application online. The application form must be filled in and sent by 3 pm Finnish Time (UTC+02:00) on January 31st 2019 at the latest.

The finalists are chosen in March 2019. They will receive initial funding to develop their projects further until the fall 2019. At the finalist stage, the goal is to develop the projects as far as possible. The jury will choose the Uutisraivaaja winner or winners in the fall 2019.

The contest is open to everyone. Individuals, groups, organizations and companies can apply. The application can be submitted either in Finnish or in English.
